Teaser Film - This 1 minute film gives a quick glimpse of your love story. Delivered 1-2 business days after your wedding, it’s the perfect video to share on your socials or with your loved ones immediately following the excitement of your big day.

Ceremony Film - This film captures the emotion of your long-awaited ceremony through candid moments and reactions. This isn’t your standard tripod video. It includes coverage from all angles to ensure we don’t miss any moments and is a great way to include your friends and family who weren’t able to be there.

Reception Film - Similar to the ceremony film, the reception film is taken from all angles and includes the full formal dances, speeches, and all the important bits of the reception.

Do I need a film?

Videos unlock memories in a way that photos can’t. They transport us through visuals and sounds to the atmosphere and feelings of the moment.

One of our biggest regrets from our wedding is not hiring a videographer. We offer hybrid video packages, so that you don’t have to choose between photos and video.

In 1896, the brothers, Auguste and Louis Lumiere, introduced their film The Arrival of a Train. It is said that as the train rushed toward the audience, they jumped out of their seats in fear.

The veracity of this story is unknown, nonetheless it illustrates the power of the medium. No one has ever looked at a picture or painting and leapt from their seat. Yet all of us have jumped at a perfectly timed jump scare.

Photos are beautiful works of art that freeze moments in time, allowing us to look deeply at their details and the subtleties we may have missed. They also allow us to incorporate our history into our décor and daily life.

Movies let us feel moments, they bring back the joys, the struggles, the excitement, and reignite those feelings in our hearts. They also enable us to share those feelings with future generations.

The Filmmaking Journey

The process of how we make each film unique to your story

Stage 1: Pre-Production

This is the most important step in the process. The more prepared we are, the better your film will turn out

  • During your planning meeting, you will decide on a film stock. We use film stocks to let you have input on the creative process for your wedding film. What are film stocks, you ask? Film stocks are the different film emulsions that are used to create different looks for film photos. If you’ve ever heard of Kodak Gold, or Fuji C200 those are film stocks. To create the look of your wedding film you can choose a roll of film that fits your style and feeling of your wedding. We will shoot sample photos on that roll of film throughout the wedding day and use those as a reference for the color grade of your wedding film. At the end of the filmmaking process you get to keep digital copies of these sample photos.

  • Our goal as storytellers is to incorporate your heart in the art that we create. During our planning meeting, we will spend time together and ask questions. We want your film to be full of themes that encapsulate who you are as a couple

  • We will talk about your music taste and the pace of music you envision. This way we can get an idea what to look for as we find the perfect song for your wedding film.

  • In our films we incorporate various audio clips, such as your vows or reactions to the first look. Sometimes we like to incorporate a poem, which is best if chosen and recorded before the way day to take some pressure off.

  • Your story is more than what just happens on the wedding day. We like to pick a location for the planning meeting that is meaningful to you and capture some short clips that we can incorporate in your film.

  • After the planning meeting, we will make a list of all the shots that are important to your story. We also like to storyboard each scene before the wedding so that we can get a vision of the film beforehand. Wedding days are always unpredictable, so this tends to change a lot in the editing process, but it just helps us be as prepared as possible for the big day.

  • We incorporate certain creative shots into our storyboards to tie the natural moments together. These shots only work if we plan them ahead of time with you.

Stage 2: Production

It’s the big day! This is when we put all our planning into action

  • We like to arrive early and film shots of the venue before the chaos of the day begins.

  • We like to film the details of your wedding like your fancy shoes, the pearl necklace from your great grandma, your save the date, and anything else that is meaningful to you as a couple.

  • We will direct you in certain shots, but for the most part, we’ll let the day unfold and be there to capture the moments.

Stage 3: Post-Production

Now the wedding is over and you can relax and enjoy each other while we get busy creating your film

  • When we get home, we’ll organize all of your footage based on the parts of the day. Once we’ve synced the audio, we watch every second of your day back again to get an accurate picture of what we have. This is a good time to re-analyze our music choices and make sure the footage is bearing out the story we had envisioned with you beforehand.

  • This process starts with paint by numbers based on the storyboard. We’ll color code all the clips that are making it in the film and start assembling them. Once we’ve tightened up the original storyboard edit, we’ll make a second edit that reimagines the story based on the way the day played out.

  • You may think the footage is the most important part of the editing journey. The twelve layers of audio tracks on our editing timeline would beg to differ. There’s more to the mix than just the music. We have two main sources of audio: what was captured on the day, and the foley we create after. Yes, we make sound effects specifically for your video. It’s hard to miss all the little sounds that make a film feel flushed out, and we don’t have to time on the wedding day to record every footstep. This is where foley comes in. We record sounds that make the movements feel real. This can be as basic as recreating the action in the scene, or as complicated as creating custom sounds from objects you wouldn’t suspect. There may be a fridge slowed down by 400 times hidden somewhere in your video!

  • Once all of the basic pieces have come into place, it’s time to fine tune the timing. This is when editing gets to frame by frame decisions. It may seem simple, but it really takes conscious effort to make the timing of every frame and audio clip exactly how we imagined. We also do the same to the sound levels to make sure the audio mix is just how we like it.

  • Now that everything is in place, it’s time to add the paint. The footage we capture is in log format to capture the maximum amount of detail. This means it comes out of the camera very flat and colorless. We must sculpt the image into the look we want. The film you picked acts as our guide from the sample photos we took on the day. But we don’t just stop there, we must make some creative decisions to really make the footage pop.

  • Now we the export the project and look for all the little details we may have missed: the clips we forgot to stabilize or the pop randomly in the audio clip from the vows. We always go back to the timeline and fix something we missed.

  • We’ve reached the finish line! Now we upload the video to YouTube for easy sharing with friends and family. We will send you a link to the video and a link to a folder with the master file for your personal archives. The master file is less compressed than YouTube and tends to look slightly better. We also send a flipbook with 30 seconds of your film to keep on your coffee table, bringing your film into the tangible world to share with friends.
